Coastal catalyst: Envisioning future livelihoods of marine fishing communities.

A significant proportion of fishing communities in Malaysia experience a low standard of living primarily due to a substantial disparity between their expenses and income. These communities often go unnoticed and are geographically isolated from urbanized areas, resulting in division between them and urban regions. This divide hinders the integration of fishing communities with the rest of society. To ensure the sustainability of their livelihoods, it is crucial to urgently address this issue and take appropriate action. The proposed design aims to enhance the quality of life for fishing communities by fostering a sense of belonging and elevating their unique identity. The primary focus is on establishing easily accessible public spaces where fishermen can engage in commercial activities while improving their working conditions and facilities. The design will explore various income generating methods and incorporate them into an interactive spatial organization that encourages public involvement in the fishermen's work process.
