THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP OF SALUTOGENIC AND PLAYSCAPE ARCHITECTURE: A SUICIDE INTERVENTION WITHIN SARAWAK YOUTH COMMUNITY

Concerning issue on increasing youth suicidal in Sarawak. Sarawak Government have urged more studies on youth suicides in Sarawak. According to Ministry of Health, increased number of youth with mental health that leads to youth suicidal. This requires immediate intervention on architectural strategy. However, the lack of youth facilities and programme to tackle on youth suicidal issue especially in safe environments and resiliency in architecture.

This design thesis pioneers an innovative convergence of architectural principles and youth mental health considerations, embarking on a transformative journey to cultivate environments that holistically nurture the well-being of young individuals. Within the context of Sarawak, Malaysia, the study delves deeply into the potential of architectural interventions guided by salutogenic principles and enriched by the incorporation of Playscape design concepts.
